Pisidia Heritage Trail
Pisidia Cultural Heritage Trail
The Pisidia Cultural Heritage Trail was developed as the result of a five-year comprehensive project carried out in partnership between the British Institute at Ankara (BIAA) and Equinox Travel.
Covering a total of 350 kilometers, this remarkable route passes through little-known ancient cities of Pisidia—such as Termessos, Ariassos, Sia, Sagalassos, Selge, and Pednelissos—as well as nearby mountain villages and the stunning natural landscape of Köprülü Canyon.
Pisidia is a region whose nature remains largely untouched: its roads are unpaved, its forests preserved, and traditional Yörük (nomadic) lifestyles continue to thrive. Therefore, the hiking trails are not suitable for those used to walking on flat terrain. The routes include steep ascents and descents, rocky and slippery paths, and occasional easy forest tracks.
This tour is guided by Dr. Işılay Gürsu, Assistant Director of the British Institute at Ankara, author of the book Pisidia Cultural Heritage Trail: Hiking Throught the Ancient Sites and Highlands of the Western Taurus Mountains, Turkey, and director of the short documentary Living Amid to the Ruins. The journey starts in the northern part of the route centered on the ancient city of Sagalassos and proceeds southward.
As there will be international participants on the tour, guiding will be provided in both Turkish and English.

🏔 Why Pisidia?
Pisidia is the ancient name for the mountainous terrain north of Antalya. This tour offers the opportunity to explore this rich historical geography and discover a new world along a newly developed route. In recent years, the area has gained fame as the St. Paul Trail, although the actual path taken by Saint Paul differed somewhat. Historical sources indicate that Paul used the route connecting Pamphylia to Pisidia, now known as Döşeme Pass, and traveled via Bucak, Senirkent, and Keçiborlu to reach Pisidian Antioch (modern-day Yalvaç).
During our tour, we will explore many of Pisidia’s ancient and natural wonders, walking parts of the very paths once taken by Saint Paul.
